Perthes Sufferer wins National Army Cadet Force Champion Cadet Competition

Each year since 2001 the Army Cadet Force Champion Cadet Competition has been held at Frimley Park to identify the very best ACF cadet of the year. This year’s winner, Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major Mathew Newton (18) from Warwickshire and West Midlands South Sector Army Cadet Force, was presented with the coveted winner’s trophy by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Mathew has suffered from Perthes disease from a young age and is hugely grateful for the help he received from the Association to cope and to achieve this fantastic milestone and is keen to show himself as an example for the benefit of others and the Association.

AUGUST 2009 -Father of Perthes child taking part in the BUPA Great North Run

On September 20th, 2009 Colin Little will join 52,000 other runners in the BUPA Great North Run – the world’s biggest half marathon. This will be his first half marathon so unknown territory, but training is well underway and he is hoping to finish in under two hours! He reaching out to you as he takes on this challenge in aid of the Perthes Association.
