A Big Thank You to Pauline Diamond and her friends!

We are immensely grateful for the support of our members, without whom we could not help the thousands of families who seek our support, this month we are featuring a grandmother who organised a group of friends to run the Cardiff Half Marathon with her, to raise funds for Perthes Association.

Pauline Diamond’s grandson Tomas was diagnosed with Perthes disease in December 2009. He has had major surgery twice and been in a Broomstick/spica plaster for a few months before having to learn to walk again. Pauline says “Through all of this he has been a brave boy, he went from a boy playing football every day to either being confined to bed or a wheelchair, never complaining and attending school whenever possible. Tom’s last surgery was on the 1st of June and within 2 weeks he was back in school.

Lisa Grant from Perthes Association has been an invaluable source of support and has seen us through worrying times.. so…along with Cherry, Tom’s mum, we decided to put our best foot forward and try to raise some money to help keep this charity going. We have been lucky to have the support of friends who were only too eager to join us…so we are now a team of six! We have great pleasure in sending Perthes Association a cheque for £826.00. ( £109 of this was collected by my husband at General Electric Aircraft Engines.)”

Best Wishes, Pauline, Cherry, Carys, Rusty and Jude.
