Star of Tomorrow – Alfie Hewitt – Winner of the World Junior Masters Wheelchair Tennis

This week we feature Alfie Hewitt aged 15 who already has shown that Perthes disease is not a show stopper – he is an inspiration to other children with Perthes disease with his grit, determination and sense of humour…….

Alfie is pictured below during the Olympic Torch Relay proudly carrying the Torch for the 2012 Olympics.

Alfie has struggled with a heart condition and Perthes disease for years but in spite of this has achieved the top accolade in Junior Wheelchair Tennis. Despite a heavy training schedule Alfie visits groups of young people regularly to encourage them in following their dreams. This year he won the World Junior Masters in wheelchair tennis, so he knows what he is talking about – you can enjoy sport even with a disability and what’s more you can be a champion!

We were very excited to find that Alfie is featured in the London 2012 Paralympics Program as a star of tomorrow (see link below the photos) – we hope to see Alfie competing for Gold in Rio in 2016 !
